Primetime
Fall 2008
|
Once upon a time the “fullness of time” came and conditions were just right for a Messiah. One life, one crucifixion, one resurrection, one prayer meeting later Christianity exploded into a worldwide movement. Not without a prophecy that the same Spirit that empowered the believers to take His story to the world in those early days would empower believers in the last, and for the same purpose. Will the second great outpouring be dependent on ripening conditions in the world, or in God’s people? The answer matters. Because there will be a second prime time, and a new prime time generation. |

Not I but Christ–Tales of Humility
Summer 2008
“hubris (hyōō'bris) n. wanton insolence or arrogance resulting from excessive pride or from passion.” So says Webster’s. And so says much of society today. Have you ever heard a political candidate say “I’m not the best one for the office,” or a movie star say, “I’m not the best one for the part,” or a sports hero say, “I’m not the best one for the position?” Problem is, all of us have contracted a “hubris infection” of sorts, now haven’t we? And problem is, if this infection isn’t cured, it’s lethal. Which makes the stories of cured people a must read.

God's Party
Spring 2008 |
What good is it to know the right day for the Sabbath unless we know the right way to observe it? Could it be that our modern high tech social networks (MySpace, Facebook, YouTube, Yahoo, etc.) might be modern images that could convey refreshingly new glimpses into what it means to observe God’s day in our generation? Perhaps it’s time we took a new look at the Sabbath commandment as a weekly invitation to “God’s Party.” An invitation with an RSVP!
The Sabbath
Winter 2008
To a world addicted to hurry sickness and the tyranny of the urgent, comes the divine gift of time for rest. The record of the gift threads its way through Scripture from creations story to Revelation’s climatic drama. Blessed, sanctified, commanded, exemplified. When respected and observed, it makes a world of difference. No wonder the plots of the enemy are bent on destroying the gift. The story of its demise and preservation is worth the retelling. Reflect anew on the perpetuity and purpose of this maligned and despised gift that endures forever.

The Chosen
Fall 2007
Once upon a long ago time there was a community of faith on its way to the Promise Land. And the God who led them called them “the chosen.” But though they were chosen, they lost their way. “Now all these things happened to them as examples, and they were written for our admonition, upon whom the ends of the ages have come” (1 Cor 10:11). Which means that their spiritual descendants—the end-time community of faith—would do well to study their ancient predecessors. For lessons gained from the experience of the first “chosen” must surely apply to the last “chosen.” Because the story of “The Chosen” is still being written.
